Wheel alignment for a 57 Chevy in Worthing.

A customer imported a 57 Chevrolet from the USA, it has been restored and had new front suspension fitted. The car arrived at his home on a transporter and upon inspecting it, he noticed that one front wheel was sticking out by around 10 degrees when the other was straight.

Obviously when they had fitted the new suspension parts, they did not align the wheel afterwards. He tried to drive it to a local garage but found it dangerous, so he looked for a mobile company who could do the alignment at his home.

A quick Google search and he found Hometyre Sussex, then booked us in for the following afternoon.

Knowing the vehicle I was coming out to would not be listed on our charts, I researched it and found the technical data before I arrived.

Once there, I drove the car onto turn plates and fitted the Supertracker equipment. The alignment was so bad, one side didn't even show on the gauges. I loosened the retaining nuts, and found that the adjusting arm could be moved by hand (nice having new parts to work with). I adjusted the vehicle to the correct settings, then called the customer out to show him the figures. The retaining nuts were then tightened back up, and a final check was made on the figures to make sure it hadn't moved, before I took the laser equipment off.
