Snow Tyres in Shropshire?
It's a dilemma! It's February. the nights are actually drawing out... the longest part of winter is behind us and it's easy to start planning for the spring and summer months ahead!
But..... how often can February, March and even April be the bearing months of some pretty wintry weather? Too often, is the answer!
While Shropshire has great transport links across the county with the A5, M54, A49 and A458 enabling easy routing across the region, it's fair to say that a lot of residents live in very rural locations!
Main roads are very well treated when there's forecasts of significant snow - but the B roads not so much! A 'regular' passenger car operating on normal summer tyres can quickly become useless during severe weather. Traction/braking and acceleration almost become impossible and certainly safety is compromised!
To Swap or NOT to Swap (from summer to full winter tyres!)
Ok, so if you are absolutely reliant on your vehicle for everyday life, work, school etc, and the roads near to you can often become impassable then a switch to winter tyres is a must. Below 7C, a winter tyre hugely outperforms it's summer alternative. The rubber remains supple, does not harden, and is actually designed to absorb and hold snow into it's grooves (sipes). Snow grips on snow very well!! The difference is quite staggering!
And it's not just about heavy snow either! Wet, cold and icy conditions are always better when handled with the grip from a winter tyre! Ever had it when you're pulling out of a junction on a cold, wet winters morning, only to suffer wheel spin and get nowhere fast? That's where good winter tyres step up! Instant, continuous grip and reassurance that you're not risking it all pulling into traffic!
For everyone else..... all season tyres represent a great compromise option and can actually stay fitted year round! Find out more, or call us for a quote!
