True Example - What can happen if you don't keep an eye on your tyres

This tyre came off the front of a VW Transporter. As you can see it is heavily worn on one side. This was actually the inside edge so not easily visible unless you turned the steering to full lock and took a look.

Eventually the tyre was so worn on this edge that the carcass was penetrated and resulted in instant deflation.

This happened on a busy dual carriage way so the consequences of losing control at speed could have been grave.

The split in the circumference goes about a third of the way around the tyre.

So, just remember to keep an eye on your tyres.

They are the only thing keeping you in safe contact with the road.
