This customer in Midlothian had recently purchased a new set of wheels and street tyres as he drove the vehicle to and from work every day so didn’t want to us the Pilot Sport Cup 2s for daily commuting.

As we’re now in the midst of summer, track events are a plenty and this customer had scheduled a trip this weekend to the local track down south. Before heading off to the event, he wanted us to install the new wheels and Bridgestone’s so break them in. Typically tyres need to be worn down a couple of millimetres to get the optimum stability, water dispersion and heat dissipation. If the blocks are new with plenty of height, you’ll experience more lateral movement compared to those that have been worn down slightly.

After the lightweight semi-slick Cup2 tyres were removed wheels that we removed had TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) sensors installed. If we were to install the new wheels and tyres without the TPMS system, the car would flag this up as an error code. If the vehicle were to go through an MOT, this would fail! Using new sensors, we coded them to the vehicle, bolted them in and reinflated the tyre to the correct pressures.
