What is a Tyron Band? | Hometyre Caravan and Motorhome Tyron Band Installation in Blackburn

Contrary to popular belief, although caravans are associated with the summer months, the Autumnal and Spring months are often the busiest for caravans and motorhomes as people modify and prepare them during the storage months readying for the next year! We recently had a client call in to book for three new tyres on their single axle caravan (two for the trailing wheels and one for the spare!) and also the installation of three Tyron Bands.

What are these bands?

Tyron Safety Bands are a metal band that go inside of the tyre and rest in the wheel well. In the event of a blow-out or rapid deflation of the tyre, the tyre can rest on this ‘bridge’ for a limited time and acts like a Run-Flat tyre allowing the driving to arrive at a safe location.

There have been instances where tyres have come off the rim and taken half of the caravan in turn. The bands prevent that!
