We were called by a new customer who works at one of the colleges in Cambridge as he required two new tyres fitting to his Ford Focus but his locking wheel nut adaptor had been damaged and he had been told by a friend that Hometyre carry specialist equipment to remove locking wheel nuts.

We arrived at the college at the agreed time, removed the locking wheel nut and fitted two new Goodyear Excellence tyres size 205/50/R17 to the vehicle.

We then headed to Impington to fit a Goodyear Excellence tyre size 225/40/R18 to a Peugeot 308 as the driver had hit a kerb and damaged the outside of a tyre.

Today we have visited a regular customer working in Newmarket who required two new Bridgestone tyres size 215/50/R17 fitting to a Vauxhall Vectra and when removing the front tyres we noticed inside wear so we performed a wheel alignment so our customer will get full value from his new tyres.

Emergency services recommend Hometyre to a new customer who had a locking wheel nut problem.

Last week we had a call from a new customer who was looking for assistance with removing a rear wheel with a punctured tyre as the locking wheel nut adaptor had been damaged. Our new customer was travelling home in his Vauxhall Corsa when a rear tyre picked up a screw and the tyre deflated very quickly. Our customer called the rescue services for assistance but on arrival they found that the locking wheel nut had been tightened with an air gun and the adaptor in the vehicle was damaged so the wheel could not be removed. The engineer managed to plug the tyre without removing the wheel as a temporary measure so our customer could get home. He advised our customer to contact Hometyre as he knew that all our mobile units carry specialist equipment for such problems and on arrival we managed to release all four locking wheel nuts much to the relief of our customer. We fitted the spare wheel so the vehicle could be used and we returned the following day to fit a new tyre to the vehicle.

During our vehicle inspection we found the remaining two tyres on the vehicle to be very old and showing severe signs of age. It has been a miserable start to June as the rain and winds continue and it is a reminder to us all that is not only during the winter months that our roads become hazardous as even now with the water laying on the road surface we will all need to take extra care when driving. It would be advisable to check the tread depth of your tyres and if there is any doubt concerning the safety of your tyres do give us a call.
