Even new tyres have imperfections as part of their manufacturing, balancing weights often need to be fitted to ensure the smooth running of the wheel as unbalanced wheels can cause vibrations when picking up speed. While fitting new tyres, balance weights are fixed to the wheels so that the weight of the rubber on the rim is equalised, resulting in a vibration free ride.
