Tyre Symbol Guide - OE Manufacturers

Tyres come in all shapes and sizes (usually round!), and within the same model or pattern style, can have different materials added/subtracted or build processes adapted just slightly by the manufacturer, to tailor for the requirements of different vehicles!

For example, a Tesla EV may need to have tyres designed to cope with the instant torque provided by the electric motors compared to a Vauxhall Astra, for example, that may use the same size.

While most major tyre manufacturers now produce tyres that cater for both EV and ICE vehicles within the same product, there all still a considerable number of other variances!

We've complied a comprehensive, (although unlikely to be complete!) list of different OE manufacturer code designations for the many tyre fitments. 

It's generally recommended to match the specific fitment for your vehicle, but it's not always essential. For ultra performance and most high end sports and luxury vehicles, certainly during any warranty period, it's always best practice to maintain the specific fitment.

For the more general production models and mass produced vehicles, most tyre brands and patterns cross over between brands without issue. For example, a tyre manufactured and designated with the AO (Audi VAG) coding, can be fitted across other vehicle brands without concern, The differences would be imperceptible  and have no affect on wear or performance etc.

*Porsche vehicles, due to their warranty, should remain on their 'N' rated tyres as specified from factory. However, you as the client have the ultimate decision.

Below is a small list of the possible Ferrari fitments found on Michelin and Pirelli tyres. This is by no means a comprehensive list. Always check with your vehicle manufacture for what correct fitment should be on your vehicle.
