Tracking, Alignment and Keeping on the Straight and Narrow
How can aligning my wheels help me?
If both front wheels are facing opposite ways, the car is effectively pulling itself apart and using more fuel. By correcting the toe, the wheels are pulled back into the correct direction
Higher Fuel Consumption
If wheels are misaligned, they will "drag" rather than "roll". Correctly aligning your wheels could lead to an improvement of up to 10% on your fuel consumption! Which given the current 2022 climate, isn't a bad saving at all!
Askew Steering Wheels
One of the more frustrating things about misaligned wheels is that the steering wheel isn't straight whilst driving in a straight line. Performing an alignment will bring the track rod ends back within manufactures specification and will ultimately straighten the steering wheel!
Inner and Outer Shoulder Wear
Another good indication of if the wheel alignment is out by checking the wear on the tyres. If the tyre is showing heaving signs of wear on the edges, then we would recommend getting the alignment checked!
By far the most accurate way of checking the tracking of the vehicle is by placing alignment gauges onto the vehicle's rear wheels and lasers onto the fronts shining backwards. The lines created by the lasers will then show if the alignment is out or if it's within the manufacture's tolerance.
