Re-tiring tyres in Norwich
This week, Hometyre Norfolk, the mobile tyre fitting service that comes to you, received a call Saxlingham Nethergate near Norwich. The customer called us for a puncture repair on a 62 plate Vauxhall Astra.
Normally for a puncture repair, we like to bring a tyre with us, as not all punctures are fixable. If for example if the sidewall is damage or there is damage inside the tyre it is unsafe to be reapired.
In this case we were only 15mins away in Bunwell, so we went to check the tyre out with the full intention to fix it, as we had no tyre.
Upon arrival, I could see there was a worm ring around the tyre in question, which normally means it has been driven on whilst flat. If the tyre has a worn ring, there will be damage in the inside. So unfortunately, this was unable to be fixed. As we were there, we carried out our free tyre safety check. I picked up and concluded the reason for the puncture was due to low tread and old age of the tyre. This leaves the tyre weak and vulnerable to punctures. We also noticed the other rear tyre was of the same age and beginning to perish also.
Therefore, we ordered the customer two brand new Goodyear EFF GRIP tyres and returned the following morning to fit them. The customer was very happy with our service, pointing out and preventing any further problems with their tyres.
