Preparing your caravan for the summer.

With the weather turning, caravan season is just around the corner. Hometyre Norfolk continues to have a variety of calls about caravan services.

This week, Hometyre Norfolk, the mobile tyre service that comes to you, went to Moneytyre Farm, a caravan storage unit in Wretham in between Thetford and Watton. This particular caravan site stores over 400 caravans all year round.

We were called to a single axle caravan, to replace two GT Radial Maxmiler 175/80/14 tyres. The tyres were beginning to perish and had cracks due to their age, over the 5-6 year recommended lifetime of the tyres. This particular caravan already had Tyron bands fitted, so as part of the process, Hometyre removed these Tyron bands. Otherwise the tyre would not be removable, because Tyron bands are designed to stop the tyre from falling into the tyre well and preventing a blow out, preventing the caravan from capsizing.

Once we had fitted the new tyre, we refitted the Tyron band in the correct position. Inflated the tyre to 62 PSI. Refitted the tyres to the caravan and gave the rims a clean and we were on our merry way.
