Pesky punctures
This week, hometyre Norfolk, the mobile tyre service that comes to you, were called to a existing customer that we have helped over 4 times on a variety of vehicles over the past 6 months. This time, the customer requested the job to take place at his workplace, at A-plant factory in Norwich.
The vehicle was a Renault Koleos, with the goal to either repair a puncture to the rear offside wheel or to replace the tyre to a GT Radial budget tyre 225/60/17. As Hometyre gets called out to lots of puncture repairs, they are not always fixable, so we like to have a tyre available to carry out the work in one go.
Unfortunately for this loyal customer, the nail he had driven over, was on the shoulder of tyre, which is not fixable. This is because when you put the patch on to repair the puncture, the patch will bend, making it highly possible that air would simply leak out. In this case, we replaced the tyre and rebalanced the wheel, adjusted all the air pressures and gave the wheels a quick clean and we were soon on our way. The customer carried on working, so it took no precious time away from his day.
Punctures can only be repaired in the central 3/4 tread so that the patch can be glued and set flat, so it is effective against leaks.
