How Regularly Do You Check Your Tyres?
This week Hometyre Norfolk was called out to another job in Thetford.
The customer had an issue with what she believed to be a slow puncture. The tyre had been checked by her local garage but they couldnt find a problem and told her that it was an issue within the rim of the tyre. The customer resorted to simply pumping the tyre up each day as she was unsure as to the problem.
After a quick Google search, this customer found Hometyre Norfolk and booked to have her tyres with us due to our very competitive pricing!
The customer booked to have two mid-range Nexen tyres 225/40/18 fitted at her home. As part of our service, I inspected all of tyres before fitting and quickly found that the issue had been due to a large split in the inner sidewall of the tyre. This was due to the age of tyre as it was over 6 years old, The DOT (date of tyre) can be found on the sidewall of the tyre. Additionally the other tyres were cracking due to the age of them. This could have been extremely dangerous for the customer as cracking tyres could fail at anytime.
