Flat Tyre to a Ford Fiesta in Thetford
The tyre on the vehicle was a budget 195/45/R16 which looked a bit low but not flat to the ground. We tested the tyre pressure and it was at 18 PSI, the tyre should have been set to 35PSI. To find out why the tyre had lost so much pressure, we took the wheel off. In this particular scenario the problem was not a puncture, upon inspection we found the tyre was leaking air from the bead, we then found the alloy had corroded, forming a layer of rust type material which was causing the tyre to not seat fully, resulting in air escaping.
This was an easy fix for Hometyre! We removed the corrosion with power tools we carry on board and then applied the sealant, refitted the tyre and the customer was ready to drive home after a day at the office!
We also carried out a free tyre safety check while on site. We found a second tyre that was also at 16PSI and was also having the same problem. We then rectified this for the customer.
The customer was very happy we could sort this in such short notice whilst they worked at their offices.
This is a common problem we see on older vehicles, if your tyre is losing air and you're not sure why, call us on 0333 444 5454 to book a fitment slot! A simple call could save you money, time and potentially prevent an accident.
