Flat Tyre in Bury St Edmunds
We were called out to a Mini Cooper at a customer's home in West Row, a little village just outside Bury St Edmunds.
The customer had hit a pothole, causing a tear in the tyre, this had resulted in them becoming stuck at home with a puncture and no spare tyre. Hometyre was called to remove a non run flat premium Dunlop tyre and we replaced it with a new Excelon budget tyre 175/65R15. Some models of Mini come factory fitted with runflat tyres.
How do I know if my Mini is on runflat tyres?
If your vehicle has runflat tyres this means when the tyre loses pressure due to a puncture the tyre then doesn't go "slack " and deform and go "flat". Run-flat tyres are designed to support the weight of the vehicle in such an event so you are able to get to a safe place to have your tyres replaced.
You can tell if your tyre is runflat by the coding on the side of the tyre, there is no set industry standard to represent this, different brands will use different codes, the list below is an example of a few!
- SSR
- ROF
- RFT
We also carried out a bead seal, as on removal of the tyre, there was a build up of corrosion. We cleaned this up, performing a rim refurbishment bead seal. This will stop any air from leaking out in the future and help the wear on the tyres.
