Spring has finally sprung!

It's officially Spring and we couldn't be happier! The weekend graced us with the most glorious weather of 2022 so far and we can't wait to see more of the same as the predicted heatwave approaches in April!

Checking Your Caravan Tyres

A lot of Caravan owners will get their Caravan serviced annually but one of the most important things to check before you head out are your Caravan Tyres! The tyres on your Caravan and its towing vehicle are the only point of contact with the road surface you're travelling on.

Check both sets of tyres for any obvious damage, bulges, cuts, splits etc alongside general wear and tear. You can find more information on checking your tyre tread here.

One of the main things to be aware of on your Caravan Tyres is the DOT Code, this is essentially a "date stamp" to mark when the tyre was manufactured. The Caravan and Camping Club recommend changing your tyres around the 5/6 year mark when the tyres may begin to perish and crack due to age.

You can easily find your "date stamp" by looking on the sidewall of the tyre for numbers as shown below.

In the above photo, the DOT code is [2221], the date of manufacture is determined by taking the first 2 numbers as the week of the year and the last 2 as the year. So, in this case, the tyre was manufactured in the 22^nd week of 2021.
