Puncture Repairs in Hampshire...

One of the most common topics we speak to our customers about on a daily basis is the dreaded PUNCTURE!

Something nobody wants but we don't doubt many of you have experienced at least once. Some of the typical reasons could be a nail in the tyre, or a thorn stuck in the tread, sometimes even a piece of broken glass.

One of our local technicians in Basingstoke came across a slightly less common puncture object on a job a few weeks back…

This is definitely not something we see every day!

What makes a puncture repairable?

There are various factors which render a puncture repairable. One of which is the reason why the above issue wasn't able to be repaired. In order to safely and legally repair a tyre, the hole must be 6mm or smaller in diameter. Unfortunately, the width of this spanner is a little too large!

Another factor which must be met, is the location of the puncture. It must lie within the central 3/4 of the width of the tyre tread, as shown below.
