Although it's not our busiest spot this year, we do regularly attend customers who have been unfortunate enough to have suffered a puncture, blowout or a flat tyre at the airport parking in Gatwick.

Opening in the early 1920's, Gatwick airport (then Aerodrome) has been serving customers since the early 1930's. However, this year has been a disaster for the air industry. But, when the clouds darken, there will always be light behind. The years to come should be the golden years for the aviation and the holiday industry as everyone wants to get away from their homes.

On multiple occasions, customers have called us from abroad to get booked in after a security guard (patrolling the carpark) spotted a flat tyre and reported it to the office. Most customer's take their car keys abroad, we all do it, as a security measure. With this in mind, we booked the customer in just after their arrival time. This allows them to meet us at the car, provide the keys and locking wheel nut so we can start working and get them back on the road.

If the tyre is repairable, we can do it then and there. This normally takes half an hour. Most of this time is letting the rubber cement cure and harden. The other side of the coin is if the tyre is not repairable, we would need to install a new tyre. The tyre size would have been provided over the phone during the initial booking and a replacement brand chosen (just in case!). This would be on our van as a final resort. If the tyre does need to be replaced, the whole rim is inspected, cleaned and the new tyre installed. Whether it be a new tyre or a puncture repair, the tyre is balanced after the work has been completed.

Once complete, the repaired (or newly installed tyre) is popped back onto the car and the customer is back on the road again.
