How to Reset Tyre Pressure Light on VW Golf
Volkswagen have been fitting their Golf's with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) since 2009, although these systems only became a legal requirement in cars in 2014.
There are two types of TPMS, Direct and Indirect, 99% of Golf's are fitted with INDIRECT TPMS. It's extremely rare to find a Golf fitted with sensors, if they are, it's highly likely an imported vehicle.
Between 2008 and 2014, you're highly likely to find the TPMS Reset button in the glovebox, it would look like the below.
From 2014 onwards, vehicles started to get a little more intelligent! In newer models of the VW Golf, you'll find the TPMS Reset option within the cars infotainment screen, as shown below!
If you've recently had tyres fitted, your TPMS light should have been reset following the fitting. If, for any reason, the TPMS light is still on, simply ensure your pressures are set correctly for your vehicle and the load it's carrying and then follow the reset procedure!
Whether your button is in your glovebox or on your infotainment system, the procedure is the same. Once your tyre pressures are correct, turn the ignition to the ON position (engine off), press the button until an audible "chime" is heard and MiL is extinguished.
As soon as you start driving the vehicle, it will complete the relearn.
