Caravan Storage Tyre Changing in Edinburgh | Hometyre Mobile Caravan Tyre Changing
Snow in April?! Not again! Many of us were hoping that the sun would hang around a little while longer whilst we prepared for the summer. Driving through the villages over the past week, we have seen a plethora of caravans out and about being washed, inspected, and stocked up on essentials for said heat wave that was apparently coming soon.
One major things that people miss when preparing their caravan for the is the tyres. Blowouts are increasing year on year as caravanning becomes more popular and checking the only point of contact on the road has never been easier!
This customer had seen that their caravan's tyres were starting to deflate. On further inspection he found that there were cracks in the sidewall and tread. As per the caravan clubs' recommendations, it's best to change the tyres once they reach five years old.
But why is this? Often, caravan tyres are left outside in the harsh elements facing drastic changes in temperatures, overexposure to the sun and showers of rain. With an overexpose to the sun, the silicone compounds in the tyre can start to evaporate over the course of several months if not driven on. Tyres need to be driven on so they can heat up evenly and allow the rubber to become malleable again.
