Tyron Bands and TPMS – How Do You Know If Your Caravan Has TPMS?
TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems) are becoming increasingly popular with the caravanning world. If you're buying a brand new caravan, you may be offered TPMS as an upgrade within your package. Equally, you have the option to fit TPMS to your caravan after purchasing it.
If your Caravan has a TPMS unit fitted to the wheel, it will wirelessly transmit a reading to a small screen (approximately the size of a phone) which sits on your dashboard. These are often solar powered and will display a "real time" reading of the caravan tyre pressures. Alerting you of any sudden loss of pressure or tyre problems.
Can I have Tyron Bands if I have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System?
Yes! Tyron have created a "bracket" (shown below) which bridges the gap where the sensor sits. In order to fit this, you need to go down a Tyron Band size to allow for the bracket.
For example, if your tyre size is 185/80R14 (185R14), your caravan will have 14" wheels. Under normal circumstances you would require a 14" Tyron Band. However, if you have TPMS fitted, you will need to drop to a 13" Tyron Band and ask for the TPMS Bracket.
