Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Warning Light. What does it mean?

The purpose of the TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) is to alert you when tyre pressure is too low and could create unsafe driving conditions.

If the TPMS light comes on when you are driving it means at least one of your tyres is under inflated and should be checked as soon as possible.

This could be the result of a slow puncture or rapidly deflating tyre so stop and check as soon as it's safe to do so.

There are two types of TPMS that could be fitted to your vehicle, one of which has sensors fitted inside the tyres that rely on a battery and can fail when that battery dies. The warning light will illuminate continuously when there is a fault with the system or sensor battery.

If you have a warning light that won't reset even when the tyres are correctly inflated get it checked out.
