Driving Home (Safely) For Christmas with Hometyre Chester
Are you heading out to visit family this Christmas? We might not be able to celebrate as normal but the latest guidelines have given some flexibility on seeing loved ones this festive season.
If you're making a long journey this winter, it is very important to ensure you check your tyre pressures before embarking on it!
Where do I find my recommended tyre pressures?
You can find information about the recommended tyre pressures for both your front and rear tyres in your vehicle handbook. Alternatively, there is something a sticker on the inside sill of the driver's door.
How to check your tyre pressures
If we're carrying out a tyre fitting for you, regardless of whether it is for 1 tyre, 2, 3 or a full set, as a part of our service we will check the pressures and remaining tread depths of ALL the tyres on your vehicle. Including the spare if the vehicle has one and it is accessible!
If you want to check your pressures yourself, it's easy! Just follow the simple steps laid out below…
- Always ensure your tyres are cold, do not check your pressures AFTER a long journey
- Make sure you're inflating your tyres to the correct pressures, as mentioned above! One of the options shown will be for 'normal' use, which will apply to most situations. If you're carrying a little extra weight in your vehicle, you can use the fully loaded pressures!
Try to check your tyre pressures at least once a month, this will help you to get the longest life possible out of your tyres and will avoid uneven tread wear in the long-run!
If you're still unsure, need some advice or want to book an appointment with us - call today! We'll be more than happy to help 😊
