Electric Car Tyres in Bristol; Tesla, Porsche and Many Other Manufactures | Hometyre EV Tyres Changed At The Home Or Work
As the market for electric vehicles continues to boom amidst the fuel crisis, we are seeing more and more Teslas, Porsche Taycans and electric SUVs in need of new tyres.
Being one of the UK's most progressive cities, Bristol's charging infrastructure is evolving rapidly allowing people from all backgrounds to consider electrifying their vehicles.
When selecting your new set of tyres for an EV, you'll need to make sure you're selecting the correct ones. As electric vehicles are, on average, 20-30% heavier than a normal ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicle, standard tyres won't be able to take the load. Tyres such as the Michelin Pilot Sport EV, the Hankook ION and the Bridgestone T-Ecopia have all been developed to cope with the weight of electric vehicles whilst also reducing the rolling resistance (increasing the range) and using specialist compounds to help reduce the stress on the tyre from the instant torque generated by the electric motors.
Although not standardised (yet) in the tyre industry, one of the best ways to check to see if your tyre is rated for electric vehicles is to check the sidewall of the tyre. It may say (EV), EV, Elec, Elect or just outright say Electric Specific.
