It's the summer holidays and motorists all across the Bristol area are busy preparing for that well earned annual break! 
Whether it's a trip to the airport or a longer venture into the wilds of the UK, the one thing often left to last minute is the car.... While things have got much more reliable these days, certain things are normal wear and tear items and can easily catch you out if you're not 'on the ball'!

 Ok, so you just know we're going to talk about tyres first!! But do spare just a minute to check them out. Modern cars have some very wide tyres and low suspension. It often means that you can't actually see the full width of your tyres and significant wear and/or damage is totally overlooked. Also if you're loading up with people and luggage without reseting or compensating your tyre pressures properly, the extra loading could easily over strain your tyres. Older rubber is far less elastic than new tyres and could easily suffer in these circumstances!

But don;t just think about tyres! Check those lights front and rear as well as the condition of wiper blades too! The last thing you need is to be on unknown roads in heavy summer (this is the UK afterall!) downpours with poor performing wipers!

Carry a torch and hi-vis jacket/gloves and make sure you have any tools you may need in an emergency or if you require a spare fitting etc.
