Mobile Puncture Repair for a Discovery Sport in Edinburgh

We recently had a customer call in with a puncture. Being stuck at home is never a great thing and with recent events, people are looking for an escape after being stuck in their home for weeks on end. After a quick call to the suppliers, we got the customer booked in for later in the day.

Upon arrival, we inspected the whole vehicle to ensure that there we no other hidden punctures. During the inspection, we also recorded the tyre tread wear just in case the customer had been driving around on unsafe tyres. After the inspection, we jacked the vehicle up and placed it on jack (stands just to be safe!) the proceeded to remove the wheel from the hub. 

With the tyre on the work bench, we removed the valve core, deflated the tyre and broke the bead. The puncture was then located on the inside of the tyre. To ensure the best fit possible for our puncture plug, the hole was drilled and smoothed. After drilling, the area was then cleaned ready for the rubber cement to adhere to the surface. Before the plug was pulled through, the cement was left to become tacky, after this the plug was pulled through the hole and the excess chopped off. The cement was then left to cure for ten minutes.


After the curing process, we balanced the wheel, gave it a quick scrub and popped it back onto the car. We hand tightened the nuts and lowered the car back onto the floor. This is where we were able to torque the nuts to the correct setting as specified by the handbook.

The work surfaces, car keys and locking wheel nut were then sanitised and placed onto the doorstep for the customer to collect!

Bead-Seal for a Saab 9-3 in Edinburgh


A couple of weeks ago, we headed out to a customer to perform a winter to summer tyre swap over, during this time, we noted that the front near side wheel had a small amount of corrosion. At the time, it was merely cosmetic and nothing to worry about. But, as the vehicle had been sitting the corrosion has become slightly worse so this customer called us out to perform a bead-seal. 

Upon arrival, with all jobs we perform a pre-inspection of the vehicle. We go through all four tyres, plus the spare and take notes of any damage, the wear indication and current PSI. The Saab had recently had all four tyres changed over to its summer tyres so all four had lots of tread left. Only the front near side looked quite sad as it was deflated. We tend to get quite a bit of salt on the roads in and around Edinburgh and most gets pushed to the side of the road. If salt accumulates on the rim (or even on the paint work of the car) it can start to eat through the protective layers and cause rust/corrosion. Where possible, during the winter (after a drive) wash the salt off of your vehicle.


The wheel was then placed on the tyre removal machine, the tyre deflated and the bead broke. After removing the tyre, the rim was inspected for any signs of corrosion or damage. On some areas of the rim there were heavy signs of corrosion but, this can be fixed. The corrosion was cleaned up using a wire brush then a cleaned using isopropyl alcohol. This ensure the best bond possible with the steel. After the clean, the sealant was applied liberally and left to become tacky after a couple of minutes. The tyre was then installed back onto the rim, inflated and re-balanced (just in case!) 

After the seal was completed, we left the tyre alone for 10 minutes to let the sealant cure. The pressure was double checked to ensure the bead had indeed been sealed. In regards to payment, we have a card machine onboard the van but, in these ever challenging times, we are trying to keep the public as safe as possible. We have therefore implemented that we call the customer whilst they are in the house and take payment over the phone. This ensures a safe transaction for all. The locking wheel nut key was then sanitised and placed back on the customer's door step ready for collection.

Tesla Model X Goodyear Tyre Replacement


We recent had a customer place an order online for a puncture repair or a tyre for their Tesla Model X. After placing the order, the office gave them a quick call to confirm the details of the booking. During the call, the customer was unsure if the tyre they had chosen (if it was not repairable) was right for their vehicle. Some vehicle manufactures require the use of specific rated tyres. In this instance, the customer had chosen a Goodyear Eagle F1 which has T0 written on the side. The T0 stands for Tesla fitment. When comparing a standard Eagle F1 to the T0 fitment one, you will notice that the internal structure, chemical compound and outer pattern has changed very slightly to ensure the least amount of rolling resistance. This helps extend the life of the electric motor and ensures the customer receives the most amount of electric range. 

Upon arrival, we always inspect the vehicle to understand what's going on and monitor the tread depths. All four tyres still had a good amount of tread left (about 4.5mm) but, the offside rear tyre had deflated completely. Unlike a petrol/internal combustion vehicle, electric cars have a giant battery pack as the floor which means we have to be ultra careful when jacking the vehicle up as one wrong move could cause a rupture in the pack. In addition to finding the safe jacking point, we use a rubber puck on the jack to help cushion and spread the load. We then removed the wheel in a normal fashion.


The surprisingly light wheel was then taken and placed on the bench in our van. After inflating the tyre, we spritzed it with a mixture of water and soap to identify where the air was leaking from. In this instance, there was a screw atop a small bump on the side-wall of the tyre. The air was leaking from around the screw but the bulge around it was more concerning as this indicates that the chords have been sheared and all the inside pressure is concentrated on that small weak patch. This is not repairable and should be replaced straight away. If the tyre continues to be driven on, it will almost certainly cause the tyre to pop. After finding the fault, we deflated the tyre, broke the bead and inspected the rim for any further damage. Luckily, everything was A-OK and it seemed as though the tyre took the brunt of the damage.

Before installation of the new tyre, the bead was cleaned to remove any debris. The new 285/35 R22 Goodyear Eagle F1 Tesla Fitment tyre was then installed, inflated and balanced on our mobile balancing machine. After being given a quick clean, the wheel was then popped back onto the Tesla, the nuts hand tightened and lowered to the ground where we could torque the nuts to the correct setting.


In usual circumstances, we take payment on our onboard card reader. But, we recent events, we take the publics health very seriously. Winter to Summer Swap Over for a Ford Kuga in Bathgate

With Summer starting to rear its head, more and more people (including myself!) are swapping their winter tyres to their summer set. Normally, through the winter period, people just swap their winter tyres onto their already existing alloys. But, we are starting to see more and more people purchase a new set of wheels so they can easily swap from one to another. Not only this, but, during the winter months quite a bit of salt is placed onto the roads and this can start to eat through alloy wheels so saving the good looking alloys is always a bonus. Picking up a second pair of cheap steel wheels for example (as long as they fit the vehicle!) is a great way to protect your nice and shiny alloy wheels during the harsh winter months.

As a repeat customer, this chap called in and booked himself over the phone in less than a minute. Choosing a date, time and location to suit him, the office sent the order my way. We arrived at the customer's house and performed a free inspection of the vehicle before hand just to check the wear on the winter tyres and also to see if there was any damage, bulges or punctures that needed to be addressed. The winter tyres were perfectly fine and still had enough tread to last a couple more years! We then proceeded to jack the rather large Ford Kuga into the air and place it on jackstands. We removed one wheel at a time and swapped it with the summer alloy.

However, before installing the summer tyre and alloy, they were given a thorough inspection and then placed on our balancing machine. After balancing, the wheel was then popped onto the hub and torqued to the correct setting. This was repeated for all four wheels.


Normally we would take payment via chip and pin. However, with recent events we are taking the public's health very seriously. After completion, we sanitised the locking wheel nut and the customer's car keys. We then took payment over the phone with the customer still in the house.

Change of tyre for a Vauxhall Adam in Edinburgh


Despite being stuck a home, people are still checking their tyres! This customer was no exception, before heading to the shop, he noticed a puncture on the near side tyre. He immediately called the office to book himself in.

With the tyre in the back off the van, we sprayed it with a combination of water and soap to find the puncture. Much like fixing a puncture on a bike, the soapy water will create bubbles where the air is leaking out. After a couple of minutes of searching, we found the nail hidden in a tread block. Sadly, the nail was sticking out at such an acute angle, it wouldn't be repairable as the plug would not create an adequate seal from the inside. The tyre was then deflated by taken the valve core out and the bead broken. The old tyre was then removed and the new Nexen Nfera SU1 225/35 R18 installed in it's place.

Whilst in the van, the wheel was balanced and checked for any damage, corrosion or oddities (just in case!). The wheel was then popped back onto the car and the nuts hand tightened. The Adam was then lowered to the floor and the nuts torqued to the correct setting.

During this time of crisis, we take our customer's health very seriously. After the job had been completed, the locking wheel nut and the car keys were sterilized and placed back onto the customer's doorstep. Throughout the process, we wear sterile gloves. These will be disposed after every appointment. In regards, to payment, the customer can stay inside as we can call them and take it over the phone.

Two Tyres for a Local Company's Van in Edinburgh

We recently had a repeat local Edinburgh computer company place an order for two near side (passenger) tyres to be replaced as they had hit a pothole.

After placing the order online, the customer was given a quick call to confirm the details of the booking and, more importantly, confirming that they got the size of the tyre directly from the side of the tyre. With the phone call completed, the tyre was ordered for the next morning. Before arriving, we loaded the tyre onto the van and set the route in the satnav. Upon arrival to the customer's location, we noticed that the tyres were wearing heavily on the inside. Before changing the tyres, this was discussed with the customer. We agreed that before the new tyres were popped on, we would correct the alignment by adjusting the track-rod ends to bring the alignment within the manufacture's tolerance.


With the alignment complete, the Nissan NV200 was jacked up. The nuts were then loosened, and the wheel taken off and placed on the turn table in our van. This is where we broke the bead and removed the old, damaged tyre. Before replacing the tyre, we inspected the alloy for any damage that might have occurred after hitting a pothole. Luckily, the alloy was perfectly fine, and it seemed as though the tyre had taken most of the brunt. We installed the new Nexen NBLUE 185/65 R15 and inflated to the correct pressure. Then we balanced the wheel on our mobile balancing machine. This was then placed back onto the Nissan and the nuts tightened to the correct torque setting. Before removing the front near side tyre, the rear offside was switched over to this position to ensure that the customer had the most amount of grip on the rear. The same removal, inspection and replacement service was issued for the next wheel.

The job was completed within the hour and the keys were handed back to the customer at the main reception!

Two Tyres for a MINI Cooper in Livingston

Recently, a customer called in to book themselves in for a puncture repair or a tyre. Whilst on the phone to the office, the customer also noted that one of the other tyres was quite low on tread. Confirming the time, the customer choose to have the puncture repair at their work and nearer the end of the day as they could pop home once the job had been completed.

The small, but quite heavy, MINI had the side jacked up in order to remove the wheels. These were taken off the vehicle and placed onto the bench in our van. With a visual inspection of the alloy and tyre complete, we broke the bead and removed the worn tyre. This was then replaced with a brand new Nexen Nfera SU1 205/45 R17 non runflat tyre. (Some MINI's have runflat tyres fitted from the factory, this customer opted to change over to a normal set of tyres after driving the car for a few months).

The balancing of the wheel was complete, the weights installed and a quick clean performed. The other tyres were also loaded onto the turn table to perform a puncture repair. However, as the customer noticed the tyre was on the verge of 3mm tread depth, they opted to swap onto a new tyre. The same process was used, and the new tyre was installed. These were then popped back onto the MINI and finger tightened before lowering the vehicle back onto the floor and tightened using our torque wrench!


Whilst on site, the customer asked us to perform a free wheel alignment check on a BMW X3. After moving the vehicle to a flat location, we installed the gauges and started checking the alignment. The alignment was only slightly off (by 0.6) but, was still within the manufacture's tolerance. After a quick chat with the customer, they decided not to proceed with the wheel alignment on this occasion but to book it in at a later date. The tyres were only halfway through their tread life and the wear pattern still looked good.

Nokian Winter Tyres for a Skoda Octavia VRs in the Foothills of Edinburgh

Living in the foothills just down the road from Edinburgh can be both a blessing and a curse. The majestic views, tranquil waters and undisturbed quaint roads draw people to live in to these rural areas. But, when you receive a puncture at home, you may not be able to take it down to the local garage. This customer called us up to create a mobile tyre fitting appointment as their rear near side tyre had worn through the cords and deflated. As all four tyres were looking a bit low and living in an area where he experiences a large amount of snow, the customer opted to purchase a set of four Nokian winter tyres.

As these tyres are shipped from the top of Scotland, we asked the customer if he was able to booked a couple days in advance. With a date and time of his choosing, the tyres were ordered. On the day of the booking, we loaded the heavy winter tyres onto the van and set off down the windy roads towards the customer's location. Upon arrival, we immediately inspected the near side rear tyre to assess the damage. As the tyre had deflated whilst the customer was pulling into the driveway, the alloy had caused some damage on the inside of the tyre and not the alloy itself. But, this tyre was set to be replaced, we could hand the tyre to a local eco disposal business. We jacked the long Skoda into the air and started to remove the wheels ready for the installation. Before we removed the tyre, we inspected the alloy and old tyre for any signs of alignment issues or unusual damage. Only being a couple years old, the Skoda's alignment was still in good shape but could do with looking at nearer the end of the year.


Loading the wheel into the van, we removed the valve core, deflated the tyre and broke the bead. After removing the old tyre, we installed the new Nokian tyre, balanced the wheel and placed it back onto the vehicle. With the nuts torqued to the correct setting, we settled the vehicle back onto the ground and asked the customer to give it a quick drive to reset the TPMS system. After the system had been reset the customer was left prepared for the forthcoming snow!

Puncture Repair for a Range Rover Sport in Penicuik

With storm Ciara relentlessly battering the country, twigs, nails and screws are being thrown onto the road. Unfortunately this also means that a multitude of customers are experiencing punctures on their vehicle. This customer called in as soon as they got home to get a puncture repair on their vehicle. With all puncture repairs, we take a spare tyre just in case it's not repairable. At the customer's request, we took a Goodyear.

With the tyre in the van, we headed out to the customer's home address. Whilst on rout, we gave them a quick courtesy call to say we were running about 10 minutes early which they were more than happy with! Upon arrival we inspected all five tyres to judge wear and any oddities such as curb, age or deliberate damage being inflicted on the tyre. The only issue was the punctured front near side tyre which looked quite glum as it sat on the floor with no air inside.

Before proceeding, we installed the alignment gauges as we noticed a bit of an inner wear issue. After checking the alignment, taking notes and performing the necessary calculations, it was concluded that the alignment was out by quite a bit! We then jumped from one side to another to adjust the track rod ends to bring the alignment back into shape.


After correcting the alignment, we jacked the vehicle up and removed the offending wheel. This was then inflated above the normal pressure so we can listen for a constant release of air. Luckily for the customer, the screw was right in the centre of the tyre. We then proceeded to deflate the tyre by removing the valve core and place the tyre on the bench. The screw was taken out of the tyre, the remaining hole drilled and smoothed with the Dremel and plugged from the inside with the tyre cement and rubber plug. The stalk sticking out above the tyre was cut to the height of the tread.

Leaving the cement to harden for a couple minutes, we gave the alloy a deep clean ready for installation. The repaired wheel was then placed back onto the rim, inflated, balanced and placed back onto the vehicle where we torqued the nuts to the correct specification.

The customer then took the vehicle out for a quick spin an remarked at how different it felt. After driving a vehicle for a number of months/years, your mind starts to counter the incorrect alignment. When correcting the alignment, your mind notices the difference straight away and alarm bells go off say "That's not correct!" whereas, in actual fact, it is correct!

TPMS Valve Change for a Ford Ranger

We recently had a customer call in to enquire about his tyre going down frequently. He had jacked up the car and inspected the tyre all the way round but could not find any issues. He called us out to take a look to see if were we able to spot the problem. Normally, it's down to a thorn or nail in the tyre but we removed the wheel from the vehicle and pressure checked the tyre and rim and removed the tyre to double check. Upon inspecting the tyre, I couldn't see any visual signs of entry in the tyre on either side. The tyre was re-installed and pressure tested to see if it was something wrong with the alloy itself. This is when I noticed a hissing sound coming out of the valve stem base. I sprayed on a solution of water and dish soap and there right in front of me was the problem. The stem had become worn and was starting to leak air.


Anything made from rubber can deteriorate over time, that's why we say that you need to change your tyres every five to six years. However, one part of tyre eco system (if you will) that people forget about is the valve stem. On an ordinary car with indirect sensors (in the brake hub itself), we can change the valves in the rims without an issue. This part of the routine of swapping the tyres over. However, when the TPMS sensors are mounted directly on the rim(direct TPMS), things can become a bit tricky as there are many variations out there.

But, as our vans are fully equipped to perform a full TPMS change over, we can change most valves without an issue. Although, when you start enquiring for a Bugatti Veyron/Chiron or a Pagani Huayra, things might start to become a bit more complex.

The bead was broken again and the tyre removed.The TPMS unit was then taken off, taken apart and the stem changed over to a brand new unit. It's not too difficult as it's just plug and play. However, it takes time and a patience.


With the tyre back on the alloy, inflated and balanced, we installed the wheel back onto the Ranger and torqued the nuts to the specification. We hopped into the car and reset the system as the tyres all had new pressures.

New Nexen Tyres for a Ford Galaxy

With the festive period almost over, this customer had opted to treat herself buy purchasing a full set of Nexen tyres for her Ford Galaxy. After placing the order on our website, the office contacted the customer to confirm the tyre size and fitting address. With the confirmation completed, we ordered the tyres and booked the customer in at the requested time.

After arriving at the customer's location, I inspected all the wheels to note any damage. As the customer was swapping over to a new set of tyres, double checked the wear on the tyres to ensure the alignment did not need doing. After jacking up the vehicle and placing it on jack stands, we removed the wheels and placed them onto our bench in the van. The tyres were then removed and the fresh new 225/50 R17 Nexen NBlues' installed. After the installation, the wheels were re-balanced due to the different weight composition of the Nexen tyres.


Moving on from the balancing, I placed the wheels back onto the vehicle and manually tightened the nuts to the correct torque setting. Most of the time, these settings can be found in the manual however with some specialist vehicles, a quick chat with the local dealer can yield great results! After being tightened, we carefully lowered the vehicle back onto the ground and handed the keys back to the customer. Despite the bitter northern winds, I was kept warm and snug with constant cups of tea. To which I say thank you!

Lucky Emergency Tyre Fitting in Edinburgh

A Monday morning in December, one of those days where you want to lie in bed and watch the world go by. But, this customer called in as they had experienced a blown tyre just down the road from their house. After slowly reversing the car back up the drive, he gave us a call and got himself booked in for a couple hours time! By using one of our local suppliers, we were able to source the customer's preferred tyre!

After the inspection, we jacked up the vehicle on the designated jacking points and proceeded to removed the wheels. These were placed on the turn table where we removed the old tyre and inspected the alloy just in case there was any further damage the alloy. There are a number of ways that you can inspect a wheel for cracks; Visual inspection where you clean the alloy and run your hand around the rim. The best way to do this is by taking off the gloves as bear skin can feel cracks and bumps a lot better when there isn't a barrier in the way. The other way is to inflate the tyre just below the maximum working pressure for the tyre. If the pressure starts to drop or refuses to go higher, this can be an indication to there being a crack. However, on some occasions, once this has been completed some cracks don't appear until the alloy and tyre has gone through a couple of heat cycles. But, on this occasion there were no cracks present!


After removing the old tyre, we installed the new 225/55 19 Goodyear Efficient Grip onto the rim and removed it from the turn table. We then balanced the wheel on our mobile balancing machine, gave it a quick scrub and installed it back onto the vehicle. The nuts were then tighten to the factory specification!

A Fleet of Nokian Winter Tyres for Witherbys' Employees in Edinburgh

Witherbys, the oldest maritime publishing company in the world, approved us in regard to changing their employees tyres from summers to winters as they were looking for someone with the convenience of going out to their main office instead of their employees going out to a fixed site and waiting around.

With nearly forty cars in their fleet, it was quite a challenge to tackle, but it was no match for the man from the North! Most vehicles already had their winter tyres in storage however, some needed new tyres. Both myself and Iain (the CEO of Witherbys) swayed towards getting the best winter tyres on the market; Nokain. In addition to meeting Iain, we met the other Iain (project and services manager) who organised the whole event.


Especially up here in Scotland, it's best to swap your summer tyres to winters during the seasonal change as it provides more traction to the road at temperatures below 7 °C, in addition, Nokian tyres have great capability in the snow due to their unique tread pattern. As to be expected, as the company originated in Finland!


After finalising some details with the company, we started booking the employees in through the middle of the week, leaving both Monday and Friday open to the rest of our customers. Overall, we spent around two and a half weeks changing over the tyres for Witherbys employees, although for Hometyre Edinburgh this was just another day's work!

We only hit one small issue during the days in Livingston, the battery did die because we weren't moving about as much… (a quick jump-start later got us back to full strength!).

Just like our domestic customers, businesses are starting to book in for their tyres to be swapped from Summer to Winter tyres.

Everyone at the company were looking at changing their tyres over including the owner, Iain MacNeil with his Range Rover Sport. But some people couldn't make it to the office such as this lady with her Volkswagen UP! As she was on maternity leave, we popped over to her house and changed the tyres on the drive.

Summer to Winter Swap for a Kia Stinger in West Lothian

With the winds howling and the temperatures dropping, the people up north are starting to swap their summer tyres for their winters. This person was no exception! He booked himself in a few months before hand and planned his day accordingly. But why did he decide to swap his tyres over? Well, the temperature drops below *7c, the compounds in a regular tyre start to harden and become less elastic. This doesn't allow the tread blocks to soften and conform to the roads surface reducing overall grip. However, winter tyres retain their elasticity and grip down to well below sub zero temperatures!

We arrived at the customer's vehicle and were greeted by a set of winter tyre's the customer had stored at their house. Before the installation, we inspected the summer tyres for any signs of irregular wear, punctures or anything of note. As the customer regularly checked their tyres, they were in good condition.


After the inspection, we removed the wheels and placed the wheel assembly on our bench where we broke the bead of the tyre and removed it from the hub. We then installed the Nokian winters. The valves were replaced and the tyre blown up to the correct pressure. With the wheel off the bench, we gave it a quick scrub and installed it back on the vehicle.
Using the owners manual, we tightened the nuts to the correct pressure.

Now this customer is set for whatever the winter has installed for them! Unless it's a hurricane, we aren't sure winter tyres can help with that.

Nokian Tyres for a Range Rover Sport

With winter fast approaching, people are starting to swap their summer tyres over to winters. The lady had booked in months ago to avoid the rush! Unlike in many countries, it is not currently a legal requirement in the UK to use winter tyres. Not using winter tyres can dramatically increase the chances of road accidents, and reduce driving safety - especially in the event of a harsh winter similar to those we have experienced in recent years.

This customer opted to swap their summers for winters before the big freeze. However, when he inspected the tyres before our arrival, he noticed that they were starting to perish. Instead of risking a blowout, he opted to purchase a new set of Nokian WR tyres. Nokian are the inventors of winters tyres as we know them today. With his chosen tyre on that van, we headed out to the vehicle at his workplace.


We removed the old 275/45 R21 Bridgestone tyres and from the rims and then installed the new Nokian WR SUV 4 tyres. With the wheel off the installation bench, we gave them a quick scrub to bring them back up to scratch and placed them back onto the balancing machine.

The wheels were then installed back onto the Range Rover. With these tyres, the customer will be ready to face whatever the harsh Scottish winters have to throw at him!

Runflat Tyres for a Mini Cooper Clubman

MINIs tend to wear down their front tyres quicker compared to their rears. This repeat customer booked herself in for two new front tyres on their MINI Clubman Cooper edition. The Pirelli P7 Cinturato Runflat tyres were ordered and loaded onto the van! The next day we headed out to the customer's house where we started work on the large MINI.

Run flat tyres can only be fitted to vehicles with specific wheels suitable for run flat tyres and with an active tyre pressure monitoring system. Typically found on many BMW models, a run flat tyre will support the weight of the vehicle while fully deflated and allow the owner to continue driving for a limited mileage at a limited speed. the down sides to a run flat tyre are firstly the cost, and secondly that once punctured and used, cannot be safely repaired.


Upon arrival at the customer's house, we were greeted with a cup of tea and biscuit. After the biscuit we inspected all tyres to see how they were wearing. If the insides were wearing down faster than the rears, we know that the tracking may be off slightly. In this instance, the car was as straight as an arrow! We proceeded to remove the front tyres and place them on our workbench. The tyres were then taken off and the new Pirelli run flat tyres installed.

A balance and a quick scrub later, we installed the wheels back on the legless MINI!

Continental SSR Tyres in Edinburgh - 2 new Sport Contact 5 fitted to Mercedes GLA

Hometyre Edinburgh went out to a customer earlier in the week who needed a pair of brand new Continental Sport Contact 5 SSR fitted to their Mercedes Benz GLA.


SSR is a technology by Continental, it stands for 'Self Supporting Radial', the aim of the self-supporting sidewall is to prevent it from being compacted between the rim and the road surface when it is not pressurised.

Rims capable of taking run-flat tyres have an additional inner lip that retains the bead of the tyre, therefore preventing the tyre from slipping off the rim and allowing it to be supported in the event of a puncture.

If you get a puncture when running on Conti SSR tyres you can drive up to 50 miles at 50mph which will allow you to get to a safe place and avoid those expensive recovery costs!

However, as with other run-flat technology if you do suffer a puncture unfortunately it cannot be repaired and having to invest in a brand new tyre.

Pirelli Tyre fitted to Mercedes CLS in Balerno

Hometyre Edinburgh got called out to a customer in Balerno who had a puncture in the near side rear tyre of their Mercedes CLS.

The customer had originally booked in through our website, we call every online order we receive just to confirm details of the booking, in this case the tyres on this vehicle are sometimes off-set (different front and rear size) so it was definitely worth a call to the customer to check they had got the size from the tyre with the puncture and to confirm it was a rear tyre.


Unfortunately this puncture was outside of the legally repairable area, so we fitted the Merc with the tyre we had on board for the customer.

A new Pirelli P Zero 285/30R19 was fitted at the customer's work address whilst he carried on with his day, a quick payment taken on the card machine and we were all done!
