Hankook tyres fitted to a Range Rover and a Volvo V40 and Bridgestone tyres fitted to a Ford MondeoWe had a very busy end to the week helping our customers to get back on the road as quickly as possible. We had a call from a new customer who lived in Cambridge as he had damaged a tyre on a Range Rover and to his delight we were able to source a replacement tyre from a local supplier. We arrived at his home and fitted a new Hankook tyre size 285/35/R22 to his vehicle within an hour of his call to us. We also fitted a new Hankook tyre size 205/50/R17 to a Volvo V40 as the owner noticed a screw embedded on the shoulder of a rear tyre. At the start of the week we were called to a local business based in Swavesey to fit two new Bridgestone tyres size 225/40/R18 to a Ford Mondeo but on removal of the near side wheel we noticed severe damage to the wheel so we returned on Friday as the new wheel had arrived.
A caravan tyre fitted in Longstanton,a Bridgestone tyre fitted near Ely and a puncture repair in Cambridge. The first job of the day was to replace a caravan tyre in Longstanton as a wheel had hit a kerb causing a gash in the tyre when leaving a camp site at the weekend. After replacing the damaged tyre we checked the remaining tyres for age and general condition and found them to be in good order. We then visited a customer living near Ely who had noticed a piece of thin wire embedded on a shoulder of a rear tyre on a Citroen DS3 and the tyre was half deflated. We were amazed to find a large nail embedded in the inside shoulder of the same tyre and a new Bridgestone tyre was fitted. We then headed to Castle Park next to the Shire Hall in Cambridge as a customer had noticed that a rear tyre on a Honda Civic had also lost air pressure. Fortunately we found a screw embedded in the centre of the tyre and a puncture repair was performed much to the relief of our customer.
New tyres fitted in Newmarket and a visit to look at an Audi in Cambourne. The first job of the week was to visit a local business in Newmarket to replace a couple of worn tyres on a company vehicle as the owner of the business cannot afford any lost time with vehicles or staff leaving the premises to have new tyres fitted. We then visited another customer who lives in Newmarket who had o blow out on a Renault Clio over the weekend. The vehicle is seven years old but during our vehicle inspection we found a rear tyre to be over eleven years old so we can only assume that the previous owner decided to fit a part worn tyre at some time. If you are purchasing a used vehicle it is always advisable to check the age and general condition of all the tyres on the vehicle.
Goodyear Eagle tyre fitted to a BMW 5 series in Cottenham and Dunlop tyres fitted to a Citroen C4 in Cambridge. We had a call from a customer who works in Cottenham as a front tyre on his BMW 5 series was losing air pressure and as the tyres on the vehicle are runflats he was aware that they cannot repaired so a replacement tyre was ordered. We arrived at his office at the agreed time and fitted a Goodyear Eagle size 245/40/R20 and before leaving we checked the pressures of the other tyres. We then headed to Cambridge to fit two new front tyres to a Citroen C4.Our customer had ordered Dunlop tyres size 205/55/R16 as a replacement for the worn front tyres. Before working on the vehicle we checked the condition of the rear tyres and found them to be four years old with 4mm tread depth. We advised our customer that it would be sensible to move the existing rear tyres to the front and fit the new Dunlop tyres to the rear axle to reduce the chances of having a blow out. Our customer agreed that this was a sensible option and thanked us for our attention to detail.
Michelin Super Sport tyres fitted to a BMW in Cambourne and then a visit to Papworth Everard. This morning we visited a regular customer who works on the business park in Cambourne. Our customer has recently changed vehicles and he asked us to fit two new Michelin Super Sport tyres size 265/35/R19 to the rear axle of his BMW M3 vehicle. We arrived at the agreed time, collected the keys at reception so our customer could continue working saving him valuable time and money. We then visited a new customer in Papworth Everard who had spotted a screw embedded in the centre of a rear tyre on a BMW 3 series and when we arrived the tyre was completely flat. The tyre was not a runflat tyre so we explained to our customer that the tyre could probably be repaired if there were no signs of damage on removal of the tyre. Unfortunately when removing the tyre we discovered that the tyre had a previous puncture repair and there was also signs of damage on the inside so a new tyre was fitted.

Before leaving we carried out a thorough vehicle tyre check and found another tyre showing signs of age. Our customer decided to call us back today to replace the tyre as he is taking a summer break next week all the tyres on the vehicle need to be in good order. We then visited a new customer who works in the centre of Cambridge as a runflat tyre on a Mini Cooper had lost air pressure. Continental tyres fitted to a Peugeot 207 in Willingham. The first job of the day was to visit a new customer who works in Willingham and she called us as she did not have the time to drive to Cambridge to have two new tyres fitted to her Peugeot 207. We arrived at 9am as agreed with two new Continental tyres size 195/55/R16 to replace the existing front tyres. Before we commenced working on the vehicle we checked the condition of the rear tyres and found one tyre to be relatively new but the other tyre to be four years old. We explained to our customer that the majority of punctures occur on the rear tyres as the front tyres push debris from the road in the direction of the rear tyres so by fitting new tyres to the rear axle you minimize the chances of nails and screws being embedded in a tyre.In the process of moving the rear tyres we noticed a rusty nail in the centre of the older tyre and therefore we were able to perform a puncture repair much to the relief of our customer.

An ironic start to the week as we remove winter tyres in wintry conditions. We are still busy removing winter tyres and refitting summer tyres but it was rather ironic at the beginning of the week as the weather conditions were similar if not worse than when we are called to fit winter tyres. The first job of the week was to fit a complete set of Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres size 235/65/R17 to a Land Rover near Ely.Then it was back to Cambridge to fit two new tyres to a caravan as the existing tyres were over five years old.We were called to fit three new Kumho tyres to a VW Golf while the driver was attending a business meeting in Cambridge. We visited a new customer in Cambridge who had decided to sweep the cobwebs off his caravan and use it on a more regular basis. He needed the tyres replaced but he was slightly concerned as it had Tyron bands fitted to the wheels and the last time he had tyres replaced he lost the caravan for a whole day.We arrived at his home at the time agreed and removed the Tyron bands, fitted the new tyres while refitting the bands within the hour. Our customer was suitably impressed.
