Wet roads 'underline importance of tyre replacements'

The rainfall seen across the UK in recent weeks arguably highlights the importance of replacing tyres on a regular basis, with one survey pointing towards drivers' fears over wet roads.

A recent poll arranged by CCB fast.MAP for mytyres.co.uk showed that 55 per cent of motorists consider skidding out of control as their worst driving nightmare.

The website also noted the advice of road safety campaigners who argue that drivers should think about replacing their tyres once they have worn down to three millimetres, rather than the legal minimum of 1.6 millimetres.

Meanwhile, the research also revealed that breaking down was the second biggest fear, while tyre punctures were cited by three per cent of respondents.

In other motoring news, Auto Trader recently revealed that 12 million people in the UK are unaware that VAT is expected to return to its normal rate of 17.5 per cent from next year.
