The majority of motorists view vans as vehicles which are safe and comfortable to drive, new research indicates.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles reports that four-fifths (81 per cent) of people believe that the introduction of airbags, parking sensors and other technology have meant such vehicles now cater well for driver safety.
Meanwhile, 90 per cent claim to be pleased that vans can now come with comfort features such as electric windows and air conditioning.
Such figures come as the firm reveals that many drivers' fears about vans being difficult or uncomfortable to drive are beginning to disappear.
"It's really pleasing to see that attitudes about vans are changing, we've always been committed to enhancing the performance, comfort and the safety of our vehicles," Steve Bryant, brand manager for Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, claims.
However, 13 per cent of respondents believe that having an information pack on a van would be useful when driving the vehicle.
Those looking to be safe while behind the wheel of this kind of commercial vehicle may also wish to ensure that tyres are filled with the right amount of air.
Meanwhile, Which? recently pointed out that tyres are one part of a vehicle that drivers must not scrimp on.
