Tyres in the UK 'damaged by road conditions'

Tyres in the UK are experiencing problems due to the state of the country's roads, if an expert's comments are anything to go by.

Nigel Doggett, managing director of Autoglass, cited the number of potholes as being a cause for concern for motorists.

He is quoted in the Dunmow Broadcast as saying: "Britain's roads are in the worst state they have been for years because of freezing snow and ice taking its toll."

Mr Doggett went on to add that potholes put "additional pressure on the cracks in the surface".

As such, now may be an opportune moment for drivers to get cheap tyres fitted properly – and perhaps receive some expert guidance on dealing with challenging road conditions.

Recently, the Institute of Advanced Motorists issued some tips for drivers regarding the threat of potholes.

It suggested that those who do accidentally hit a pothole should ensure that they check their tyres for any damage after stopping.
