Tyre news: Mercedes-Benz to highlight road safety

Mercedes-Benz is to highlight the importance of road safety by joining TyreSafe, which will see the manufacturer organise a string of related programmes across its retailer network.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, gave his reaction to news that the motor giants will lend their support to a series of initiatives.

He said: "This level of insight and understanding will help us enormously as we continue to grow and communicate tyre safety messages to an increasingly wide audience."

The carmaker will help to educate drivers and fleet managers about taking precautions to maximise tyre safety.

It will also unite with TyreSafe in researching education schemes for those who are new to the garage trade.

Additionally, the partnership will draw upon the work of the Mercedes-Benz Training School and Apprentice Training Academy.

In other motoring news, road safety minister Paul Clark recently announced new ratings for 25 additional motorcycle helmets – adding to an overall amount of 175.
