Safety precautions 'can include tyre upgrades'

An expert recently outlined the need for motorists to keep up to date with the latest advancements on road safety, in news that may be of interest to those looking for new tyres.

Kathleen Braidwood, road safety officer for Scotland at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, commented on the importance of taking precautions this winter.

She said that drivers can familiarise themselves with current protective trends by showing "a willingness to keep up with new technology and changing road conditions".

Overall, Ms Braidwood asserted that being careful on the road should not only make individuals safer, but "it should also increase the enjoyment we get from driving or riding".

Elsewhere, the Institute of Advanced Motorists recently released advice which may benefit drivers who need to travel on challenging road surfaces during adverse weather conditions.

It stated that motorists should not drive in flood water if it is obviously too deep – and should only make journeys if it is unavoidable.
