As part of ensuring their vehicle is in good condition, drivers are urged to make sure that they keep an eye on their tyres.
Pointing out motorists should look to maintain their car "to the best of their ability", the RAC states that tyre pressure should be checked on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, those driving second-hand automobiles were advised that they will likely have to purchase new tyres in order to keep their motor in the best condition possible.
The firm stated that as the majority of used vehicles between three and six-years-old "require significant investment in new tyres", such costs can account for up to 40 per cent of a vehicle's yearly maintenance costs.
In addition, the breakdown assistance company claimed that any small defects with a vehicle should be rectified quickly and the service history should be kept up to date.
Such advice comes as Peter Snelling, head of communications for Michelin, recently pointed out that tyres deserve the "utmost care and attention" from drivers.
