Motorists should change their tyres every once in a while, even if the tread appears to be in good condition – if a report is to be believed.
In an article posted by Christopher Tan on asiaone – first published by the Straits Times – it was suggested that consumers should be wary of hidden safety matters.
Mr Tan stated: "Tyres do indeed have a shelf life.
"Even if a tyre is technically brand new and unused, it may have serious deterioration that is not visible."
He went on to highlight how it is not a good idea to purchase tyres that left the factory five years previously.
The worst-case scenario could include tyre tread separation, which may occur at high speeds.
In other news, motorists looking for a new vehicle could consider the Citroen C3, which features a number of options – including 195/55 R16 tyres on 16-inch Valonga alloy wheels, or 205/45 R17 tyres on 17-inch Sonneberg alloy wheels.
