Motoring book 'could make ideal Christmas present'

A collection of images of smoking tyres and vintage cars promises to make the ideal Christmas present for auto enthusiasts.

British Touring Car Racing, written by Peter Collins, provides a pictorial panorama of motors used in competitions from the 1960s right through to today.

Over 96 pages, the images highlight how the autos evolved throughout the years to become faster and more efficient.

The book takes the reader on a journey "from the anarchical 1960s and early 1970s of flared wheel arches, lifting wheels and smoking tyres, through [to] the Group 1 years".

According to Thoroughbred and Classic Car Owners Club, the manual is definitely worth a look for people with a passion for all things motor related.

The publication Octane further noted that the images contain captions that provide the reader with ample information.

Mr Collins, the author of the book, has been a motoring photographer and journalist for 15 years and has attended worldwide car events since 1965.
