Fitting a vehicle with the correct tyres can help drivers reduce fuel consumption – as can a number of other motor maintenance tasks.
However, organisers of an event are now suggesting to drivers that a bit of careful planning is one of the most effective ways to save on trips to the pump.
The Commercial Vehicle Operator Show - which is due to be held between April 13th and 15th next year – aims to advise motorists on which satnav system is best for them.
Commenting about greener driving, the people behind the event said there are many ways to reduce carbon footprints, but logistics is one of the simplest methods.
"No matter how well maintained a vehicle fleet may be, take the long way home and up go your fuel bill and operating costs," they said.
"Use a good fleet management and route planning system and you'll cut mileage and fuel."
Inflating tyres to the recommended levels is another way to use less petrol or diesel – and it also helps prolong the life of the wheels too.
