It appears that Michelin tyres could be a great purchase in 2010, after the manufacturer received a prize for its performance at the Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence.
The company picked up the Tire Manufacturer of the Year accolade, which could encourage drivers to purchase new tyres that make the most of innovative expertise.
Commenting on the results, Adam Gavine, a member of the judging panel, discussed Michelin's successes in recent months.
He said: "It expanded in earthmover tyres, worked on one of Europe's largest rubber compound centres and upgraded its high-tech truck tyre facilities - all without any layoffs."
Mr Gavine went on to describe this as "a staggering performance by any standard".
Elsewhere, the prize for Environmental Achievement of the Year went to Goodyear for producing the first ever concept tyres that use BioIsoprene technology.
Anyone looking to pick up new tyres could also check out the Michelin Energy Saver, which the company claims has a high standard of longevity - and cuts the number of worn tyres needed for recycling.
