Free Tyre Checks, Local Conversations and a Fantastic Welcome from Wiltshire Motorists

Yesterday, the Hometyre team spent the day at Swindon Designer Outlet, offering free tyre pressure and tyre health checks to motorists from across Swindon, Highworth, Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough, Chippenham and the wider Wiltshire area.

The event was organised to promote tyre safety and help local drivers better understand the condition of their tyres, while also introducing motorists to our newest territory, Hometyre Wiltshire.

With two fully-equipped Hometyre service vans, our tyre safety arch and plenty of sunshine, it proved to be a fantastic day of conversations, education and practical tyre advice.

Tyres Are Often Forgotten Until There's a Problem

One thing became clear very quickly throughout the day: many drivers simply don't check their tyres as often as they should.

While some vehicles arrived with tyres in excellent condition, others showed issues that their owners were completely unaware of.

During the free inspections, we found:

Incorrect tyre pressures
Uneven tyre wear
Tyres approaching the legal tread limit
Sidewall damage
Tyres showing signs of age-related deterioration

In many cases, these problems had developed gradually and weren't obvious to the driver during normal day-to-day use.

A quick tyre inspection only takes a few minutes, but it can identify issues before they become expensive, inconvenient or potentially dangerous.

More Than Just Pressure Checks

Throughout the day, the team carried out dozens of tyre inspections and answered questions about everything from tyre pressures and tread depth to wheel alignment and TPMS warning lights.

A number of motorists also took advantage of on-the-day services, including:

Puncture repairs
Replacement tyres
Tyre pressure adjustments
General tyre safety advice

It was particularly rewarding to see how many people genuinely appreciated having access to free, impartial advice without any pressure or obligation.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the event was meeting local people and having conversations that simply wouldn't happen in a traditional garage environment.

We spoke with new drivers, families preparing for summer holidays, commuters covering hundreds of miles each week and local business owners whose vehicles are critical to their day-to-day operations.

Events like this provide an opportunity to bring tyre safety directly into the community and help motorists understand how important tyres are to the overall safety and performance of their vehicle.

After all, tyres are the only part of a vehicle that actually makes contact with the road.
