Having the right set of tyres could make all the difference in getting the best possible fuel consumption rates, one journalist states.
Writing for the Press and Journal, Richard M Hammond points out that "a light right foot and a smart set of tyres will go a long way" in terms of boosting a car's fuel economy.
And in a test of Goodyear's new EfficientGrip low rolling resistance tyre while driving a Peugeot 207, he reveals that he was able to over a distance of 111 miles using 2.6 gallons of fuel.
However, those looking to reduce journey times and cut down on the amount of fuel used were reminded that - in addition to having a good set of tyres in place - it is "equally important" for drivers to plan their route in advance and to be aware that road infrastructure can also play a role in economical driving.
Meanwhile, Ring Automotive recently claimed that keeping tyres properly inflated can not only boost fuel economy but also cut down on wear and tear.
