Cheap premium tyres are at risk from an increased number of potholes on the road.
According to Potholes.co.uk, which was set up by Warranty Direct to warn drivers about this type of problem, treacherous weather conditions have created more hazards for those hitting the road.
Deborah Hill faced £290 in repair bills after she hit a pothole and her car made a "horrendous" noise.
"The wheel had gouges round the rim and my local garage revealed that it had knocked the tracking out completely and I had to replace the wheel," she said.
Those with cheap tyres should be aware that in icy and snowy conditions, extra care needs to be taken, Potholes.co.uk added.
"The 'freeze and thaw' effect, that sees expanding rainwater crack the road, will worsen matters further," the company stated.
Sever weather warnings have been issued today (January 5th) for most of the country. Widespread icy roads and heavy snow have hit the majority of regions, so planning ahead for travel is crucial.
