New EU legislation means that from 2012, all new models of passenger cars will have to be equipped with a TPMS system as standard.
First fitted in 1986 to the Porsche 959, similar systems were developed and fitted to an increasing number of luxury vehicles until Renault began first high volume installation to its Laguna 2 range from 2000. TPMS provides the driver with instant, on demand information and alerts regarding tyre pressures across the vehicle. Seen as an environmentally friendly way to further reduce carbon emissions caused by deflated tyres, the EU also recognise the clear safety benefits to all road users.
Hometyre have approved and trained TYRON safety technicians who can supply and install TPMS as an aftermarket product to all car, 4x4, light commercial vehicles and caravans by request. Contact 0800 783 9310 for further information.
