There is a burgeoning market of manufacturers providing cheap car tyres for drivers to choose from, judging by details of new research.
A study by Tyres & Accessories and Tyrepress outlined the market share held by different companies - and suggested that many motorists are looking to obtain affordable tyres.
Overall, it found that Bridgestone is the market leader in 2009 - with a 26 per cent share - ahead of Michelin on 25 per cent.
However, Hankook has risen to third place in the table - which arguably underlines the trend for buyers to seek cheap car tyres.
Meanwhile, the report indicated that Continental believes that demand for cheap premium tyres will grow in 2010.
Arguably, the need for motorists to ensure that their tyres are in a good condition was recently underlined by TyreSafe, which claimed that many people suffer tyre-related breakdowns because they do not take adequate precautions beforehand.
