Regarding ways in which drivers can keep their motor safer and more affordable, the organisation claimed that people should not ignore the condition of their tyres.

In fact, it suggested that customers should check their tyres' pressures once a week, as an inflated tyre has greater longevity, not to mention improved grip.

The automotive experts also noted that there should be at least 1.6 millimetres of tread across the middle three-quarters of the tyre.

It observed that people who ignore such advice regarding tread depth can potentially incur a fine of £2,500 for each tyre.

Elsewhere, Protyre recently advised motorists on how to deal with adverse weather conditions.
