Buyers 'must dig deep to find cheap tyres in 2010'

It appears that customers on the lookout for cheap tyres might have to do plenty of research in 2010, after it was reported that Michelin's North America operations will raise domestic prices on such products.

According to Automotive World, the decision will come into effect on February 1st of next year – with the increases dependent upon which product buyers are after.

For instance, the news provider claimed that commercial prices on Michelin and BFGoodrich truck replacement tyres will rise by up to seven per cent.

It also noted that Earthmover prices are set to increase by as much as four per cent on Michelin replacement tyres.

What's more, it could be said that an increase in tyre prices in North America may have implications for consumers in the UK.

Recently, Continental announced that truck tyre costs will rise between three and five per cent by the mid-point of next year – which could be a consequence of reduced demand.
