Recording a verdict of accidental death, Alan Crickmore - Gloucestershire based coroner - commented that he did not believe the driver of a fatal collision would have died if the tyres fitted to her car had not been of the age they were found to be.
Nazma Shaheen's Toyota Lucida suffered a burst tyre while travelling northbound on the the M5. The vehicle veered onto the hard shoulder where it hit a kerb and rolled. The vehicle was later found to have tyres fitted that were 13 years old. The subject of aged tyres on vehicles has been raised many times. This case has brought the issue to the forefront of attention once again.
