Bridgestone will celebrate its 50th win at the Australian Grand Prix, it has been asserted.
Hiroshi Yamada, manager of the tyre manufacturer's motorsport department, made this comment prior to the event, adding it will mark an important milestone in the company's heritage.
Since the organisation entered the sport in 2002, it has come a long way and has achieved many proud moments – including the first Bridgestone tyre win in 2004, he noted.
"We are nearing the end of the season yet the fight is still on for the World Championship title," stated Mr Yamada.
"I am looking forward to an exciting race to mark this milestone for us."
Earlier this month, Bridgestone achieved another victory. Jorge Lorenzo won for the second consecutive year at Estoril using the manufacturer's tyres.
The company asserted it was pleased with the win because the circuit is tough and has traditionally been a tricky one to conquer for its wheels.
