With the final MotoGP race taking place in Valencia this weekend, Bridgestone points out the demands of the course will require a certain combination of tyres.
As the Ricardo Tormo circuit is not only one of the shortest tracks in the MotoGP season but also one of the few which runs on an anti-clockwise format, Tohru Ubukata, manager of Bridgestone's motorcycle tyre development department, claims it is "a technically complex circuit".
Consequently, he points out that the layout demands the use of asymmetric rear tyres, with "good durability" on the left side of the tyres, with "optimal warm-up performance" on the right.
Indeed, it will be the sixth MotoGP event of the season that Bridgestone will use asymmetric rear tyres.
And with the course containing a high number of turns, Mr Ubuakta claims that the tyres will always be working and "will have very little respite".
Last month, he pointed out that a combination of a soft tyre at the back and a hard one at the front helped Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo perform well during the free practice session of the Malaysian MotoGP race.
