A
s the cold winter months set in, drivers searching for a 4x4 that will help them make it through the treacherous conditions may want to consider the Land Rover Discovery 4.
The vehicle has been named Scottish Car of the Year at the 2009 Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) awards ceremony, with its versatility over differing forms of terrain receiving particular praise.
"Being able to boldly go regardless of the weather conditions has ensured the Scots' love affair with off-roaders remains as strong as ever," ASMW president Bill Caven states.
He adds that "4x4s remain a necessity for motoring north of the border".
Meanwhile, John Edwards, managing director for Land Rover UK, points out that the Discovery 4 has evolved over the years to offer an "unrivalled all-round package" to drivers.
Those looking to prepare for driving, whether on or off-road, this winter could do well to ensure that their tyres are inflated properly.
A failure to do so, Ring Automotive recently claimed, can not only increase wear and tear on tyres but also mean that a car consumes more fuel.
