They're the only part of your vehicle in contact with the road, and a simple tyre check before setting off can help prevent breakdowns, improve fuel economy and keep your family safe throughout the journey.

Check Your Tyre Pressures Before You Travel

Tyres naturally lose pressure over time, and driving on under-inflated tyres can affect:

braking distances
steering and handling
fuel economy
tyre wear

If you're travelling with a fully loaded boot, extra passengers or towing a caravan, remember your vehicle manufacturer may recommend different tyre pressures for the journey.

Check Your Tread Depth

The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, but tyres begin to lose performance well before they reach that limit, particularly in wet weather.

Good tread depth helps clear water from the road surface, improving grip and reducing the risk of aquaplaning during those unexpected summer downpours.

Look for Signs of Tyre Damage
