In the run up to the summer months, our phones are bursting with caravan owners desperate to get their pride and joy up and running for the caravan season! Many which will have their caravan or motorhome serviced for their upcoming holidays. Unfortunately, a lot of the time the wear of the tyres is overlooked.
Caravan tyres will do less mileage than a family car and will look as if the tread depth is not dramatically reduced. Although, as the tyres reach five or more years in age cracking could appear, both us and the Caravan Club recommend changing your tyres at around 5-6 years.
One way you can find out the age of your caravan tyres is by looking at the DOT code on the sidewall of the tyre which will tell you which year your tyre was constructed, for more information on how to do this, just give us a call on 0333 444 5454.
As mentioned above, we are regularly meeting Caravan owners who are concerned on the impact to them and their vehicle if they have a blow out on their journey.
